A winter stop in Rotterdam

Day three of our Queen Anne cruise brought an overnight stay in Rotterdam. I was travelling with friends, with plenty of time for coffee, a wander and another good meal together.

Carinthia Lounge was my favourite place for coffee and snacks. It made a lovely start before heading into a city where you can walk off the ship and begin exploring.

A little wander ashore

We took a walk in the snow and ice. Rotterdam is a place I’ve visited before, and there are so many possibilities for a day ashore: the Cube Houses, Markthal, Miniworld and Euromast, or a water-taxi trip towards Kinderdijk.

Those are ideas I shared for other travellers; our own outing this time was a winter wander. Having the ship stay overnight gave the day a relaxed feel.

Coffee, curry and evenings with friends

Back onboard, the buffet was being served by the crew. A curry lunch was right up my street — Indian food is a favourite of mine.

Our group was making the most of the speciality dining, and I especially enjoyed the Indian restaurant, Aranja. The social side of this trip was about spending time with friends around the table.

I was also looking at the Fizz show in the Bright Lights Society. It required a reservation and an extra charge on our sailing, and I hadn’t decided whether to book it. The spa was on my list for the following day.

A winter city stop, favourite coffee and good company: a little glimpse of my own time aboard Queen Anne.

A little story from my travels.
