A gentle start in Luxor

Our Passion for Cruises hosted Nile adventure began with Titan’s door-to-door chauffeur service taking us to the airport. It gave everyone a relaxed start before our first days in Egypt.

We stayed at Sonesta St. George Hotel in Luxor, beside the Nile. Between the heat and the journey, it was lovely to slow down, cool off in the pool and spend time getting to know one another. At sunset, feluccas drifted past on the river — such a beautiful way to begin.

A first look at ancient Egypt

On the second day, some of us made an early visit to Dendera Temple Complex while others relaxed at the hotel. The huge columns, detailed carvings and surviving colours in the ceilings made it a wonderful first temple to experience.

After lunch and another easy afternoon by the river, we headed to Karnak for its evening sound-and-light show. Seeing the temple illuminated gave it a very different atmosphere ahead of our daytime visit.

Next stop: MS Livingstone

After three nights in Luxor, it was nearly time to board MS Livingstone for seven nights on the Nile — with our group already finding plenty to talk about.

A little story from my travels.
